Milwaukee Batteries and Chargers

Yes. Milwaukee M12 batteries are compatible with Milwaukee M12 tools, and Milwaukee M18 batteries are compatible with Milwaukee M18 tools. This allows users to choose different battery capacities and technologies based on the tool, application, desired runtime, and preferred weight.

CP stands for Compact, XC stands for Extended Capacity, and HD stands for High Demand.

CP batteries are smaller and lighter, making them a practical choice for tight spaces, overhead work, and applications where reduced tool weight is important. XC batteries provide a versatile balance of power, runtime, size, and weight. HD batteries are designed for high-demand applications that require greater power and longer runtime.

Milwaukee REDLITHIUM™ batteries provide reliable cordless power for a wide range of tools and applications. REDLITHIUM™ HIGH OUTPUT™ batteries are designed to deliver increased power while running cooler than standard REDLITHIUM batteries. REDLITHIUM™ FORGE™ batteries represent Milwaukee’s most advanced battery technology, offering high power, faster charging capabilities, and long battery life.

Some Milwaukee chargers are designed to charge both M12 and M18 batteries, while others are designed for only one battery system. Always review the charger specifications before purchasing.

The Milwaukee M18™ & M12™ Rapid Charger, 48-59-1808, and the Milwaukee M18™ & M12™ Rapid Charge Station, 48-59-1807, can charge batteries from both systems. MX FUEL batteries require an MX FUEL charger.

The amp-hour (Ah) rating is similar to the fuel tank capacity of a battery. A higher Ah rating will generally provide longer runtime when comparing compatible batteries under similar conditions. However, actual runtime and performance also depend on the tool, application, workload, battery technology, and operating conditions.

Higher-capacity batteries are often larger and heavier, but newer Milwaukee battery technologies such as REDLITHIUM™ HIGH OUTPUT™ and REDLITHIUM™ FORGE™ can deliver increased performance without relying on capacity alone.
